I am extremely proud to have been elected and given the opportunity to serve as president of the Mississippi Dental Society. I am thankful for the energy, leadership and vision of previous presidents. We owe much to our leaders and executive staff for their determination, hard-work and skill in steering Mississippi Dental Society on the right path.
It is my pleasure to work with this unique organization and talented group who share the passion to serve the underserved and have the common goal of providing the best quality of care to the citizens of our state. These individuals who focused on maintaining high quality educational training and actively networking during our meetings to discuss and resolve issues unique to our members.
We have accomplished a lot over this past year. Our membership has experienced record growth due to our face-to-face office visits to prospective and established members. The partnership/sponsorship campaign has been very successful in helping us fulfill our obligations and fund our community service projects. Our educational and convention committees have done a tremendous job of scheduling our meeting locations and CE’s according to our member feedback and State Board requirements. Earlier this year, the “Make Dental Students Successful” (MDSS) mentorship program was launched and we are now actively working with UMMC students and helping them matriculate through the dental school program.
As president I will continue to work hard to meet and in some cases exceed your expectations. Our strategic plan has been aggressive, but necessary and over the next year we will continue to engage our membership by offering activities and educational sessions that are reflective of what our members have requested. Our membership and recruitment drive will continue. Expansion of the MDSS mentoring program has begun and will include college and high school students interested in a professional career in dentistry.
I ask for your support as we work to expand our member services, advocate for our profession and increase our visibility in the community.
